Default Big Sur Desktop Pictures are no longer stored in /Library/Desktop Pictures; but, in System/Library/Desktop Pictures; and, not able to add your own DT Picts as you please. Or, is there a way besides adding a folder in usual library and select it in system prefs/DT-ScreenSavers? Then you do not get the system DT Pictures. Why would Apple restrict DT Pictures in this way, limiting more with each upgrade.

The entire Big Sur operating system is now on a signed, read-only partition, and there will be no user write permissions on it. Thus, no more adding personal pictures to the System Desktop Pictures location.

Your alternative is to place your preferred Desktop pictures in a local, arbitrarily named folder and add that folder via the Desktop & Screen Savers panel sidebar.
