Hi there Mountside21,

We understand you're experiencing an issue with updating your MacBook Air to macOS Big Sur, and we'd like to see if we can assist.

To get started, disconnect any peripheral devices, and attempt the macOS install again.

If the install issue persists, create a new user account, and try installing macOS Big Sur there: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

Should you experience the same install issue, delete the installer file, and try downloading it again.

We hope this helps.
