The replaceable tip for the Apple Pencil should be changed as soon as any wear is evident.
The first generation Apple Pencil is supplied with one spare tip in the box - together with the in-line charging adapter. The second generation Pencil uses exactly the same pencil tip, but is not supplied with a spare.
