Daughters macbook air 2017 is currently updated to High Sierra 10.13.6 (security update 006 has been done)
to run MS Teams for school lessons it says it needs 10.15 however no updates are coming up when i press software update

More or less. Apple supports the last three releases of macOS. Now that would be Big Sur, Catalina & Mojave.
No os update showing
