Keyboard backlight MacBook Air A1932

The keyboard backlight on my MacBook Air A1932 2019 turns off after login.

Installed macOS is Big Sur

How I can get the keyboard backlight to work?

F5/F6 buttons are not working, also the options for "Adjust keyboard brightness in low light" or "Turn keyboard backlight off after xxx secs of inactivity" aren't present in the keyboard preferences menu.

Thanks for your help
