Repair for IMAC, Retina 5k 27 inch 2017

My daughter updating the Big Zur update and suddenly they have a power interruption. After that I cannot open anymore the computer. The apple repair center told me that my Logic Board, 3.8 GHZ EL XTA, 8 GB, Power Supply Unit and Antenna Bluetooth were damaged. The logic board was too-expensive. What is the assurance that it will not happen again. It is worth for the repair?

No one can answer that question. There is no assurance possible. Electronic components are quite delicate. Logic boards are very expensive, so you need to think about if it is worth on a 4 year old computer. Personally I would not pay more than maybe 30% of the original price for a repair - if it is more, I buy another computer.


But, a different question: do you have homeowner's insurance? They may cover that.


And, check out the refurbished units available at the Apple online store (in the US):
