Bootable USB for Mac OS X Lion

Hi all,


I'm trying to make a bootable usb for my old iMac 2011 because the online recovery and reinstall is not functioning for some reason. The internet is fine, the hard drive works and the system can see the drive but it consistently coveys a "cannot download the additional components needed to install os x." So I am trying to create a bootable usb and I bought Lion on the app store but now the app store is telling me I can't download the installer because I can't install Lion on my laptop (high sierra) but I just want the shared support folder to make the drive. Is there a way to bypass this? I've already payed my $20 for the software and now it seems I can't even use it.

As for the original issue, if you're having issues reinstalling macOS using recovery, try again using Internet Recovery as this could bypass the issue you're encountering. Take a look at the steps under "Other macOS installation options" from this article for info on how to do this:
