Internal Camera

When I use the internal camera with the laptop in its usual place I get a band rolling up the screen image. I though it might be the magnetic fields of my large monitor speakers, so I took the laptop into a different room and the problem disappears. So I return it to the usual desk and move the speakers away and the problem is still there which seems to be imply that it is linked to the power supplies close to the equipment. I also read that the built in camera can show banding if used with the Chrome (or Firefox) browser However the camera will not work with Safari which seems insane, so I have to use Chrome.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities, rowland.j!

We understand you're having trouble with a scrolling band while using your MacBook Air. We'd be happy to provide information about this.

Since you mention that you're not able to use the camera with Safari, go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Camera and make sure Safari is allowed. You may need to press the lock at the bottom-left in order to make changes.

Then, test to see if the band continues to appear while using Safari. If it does, likely the interference in the room is causing this to appear.

Let us know the results.

Have a great day!
