Flickering light on screen when using the camera

Hi everyone,

I've noticed when opening the camera on my Macbook, in a well lit room, light starts flickering on the screen (horizontal banding?) Has anyone else had a similar issue, or know how to fix this?

Thanks.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.1

That is most likely because of a quirk of the refresh rate of the camera, and the frequency of the lightbulb in the room.(it happens when they match up)

You can fix it by adjusting the lighting in the room.

If the mac changes the exposure(it will if the lighting changes), the refresh rate of the camera will change, and the flickering will stop.

You will find it would not happen with natural light. Or a light with a different frequency.

Hope this cleared it up! If not feel free to ask!
