transfer photos in JPG from iPhone to external drive?

Hello,

i am desperate. Hope someone can help me.

I am trying already for months to transfer photos from iPhone to external drive directly using ImageCapture (because only here i get also short "live videos"on macBook Pro). I want them on external HD as JPG but cant get them as JPG. I have "automatic" in iPhone settings but this doesnt help, photos are in HEIC. I tried all kind of converting ways but i dont like any as when i convert HEIC photo to JPG i loose original photo info as date, time etc.

Is there anything i can do/use to transfer photos from iPHONE to external HD in JPG except capturing photos in JPG please?

(i have several thousands of photos on iPHONE, using iCLOUD, so really need them in JPG with excact info, yes am little organizing freak :))
