Why is my software not updated in 12.5.1?

Unfortunately iOS 12.5.1 is as high as your iPhone 6 can go.

If it says the device is up to date and you need a higher OS version you will have to buy newer equipment.

iPhone 6 Goes to iOS12.5:

Your iPhone model (iPhone 6) cannot go past iOS12.5. This is because it does not meet the hardware requirements for iOS13 and iOS14.

If you have an iPhone 5S, 6 or 6Plus, then iOS 12.5.1 is the highest possible. If you have updated beyond that, you do not have one of the models listed in my first sentence.

Sorry - I misunderstood. You have lower than 12.5.1, and want to upgrade *to* 12.5.1? Correct?

Read the previous replies. Your iphone 6 cannot go higher than 12.5.1

Because eventually all computer hardware no longer has the processing power to run the most current software, which is the case with the iPhone 6, which I think is now 6 years old.

If you cannot get a further update you have a 6 not a 6s
