Not able to connect to my printer

I am not able to connect my printer (old HP 4200 series) after updating to BigSur. Do you know if after the update, they are no longer compatible?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.1

Hi,

With an old HP network printer, if necessary, it is often worth checking whether a printer driver for another similar model can be used, or a generic PCL or PostScript driver. See also Add a network printer by its IP address in Add a printer on Mac - Apple Support.

A question for HP don't you think.

Is it a LaserJet 4200, if so click on the link below,

https://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-laserjet-4200-printer-series/84028

I am on macOS Mojave and immediately get unable to fid drivers notice,

clicking on the operating system selector and selecting macOS only gives options

for macOS 8 and macOS 9 which are over 20 years old, the last updates for these were in 2005.

Have you been running this printer using a more modern OS, tell us which.

Interestingly though it does seem to be supported in this driver download,

https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1888?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

Once download double-click to install.
