iPhone 12 Microphone Issue

My husband and I both upgraded to iphone12s in November 2020. We both experience this same issue, when on a voice call the conversation starts fine. Then suddenly the person on other other end can no longer hear us. We can still hear them. It happens with both our new iPhone 12s.

We have tested all three microphones and they work. Calls start off fine, it occurs randomly but super frustrating. We never had issues with our older models. The iPhone 8 appears to be more stable than the iPhone 12.

Hi sherrytip,

We see you're having issues with the microphone on your iPhone while on calls. We can certainly understand the need to have the other person hear you, and we'd like to help out.

Have you been able to try using a pair of headphones that has a microphone, just to see if that works well? If not, please give that a try. We'll also want to try a few steps to help isolate this down. Try turning off VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling. If turning either of these off resolves it, we'd encourage you to reach out to your mobile carrier. Info on the VoLTE options can be found here: About the LTE options on your iPhone

Wi-Fi Calling info can be found here: Make a call with Wi-Fi Calling

Take care!
