I purchased an iPhone 12 a week ago and the speakers are giving me trouble and I’m not receiving notifications. Can I return the iPhone before the 14 day period?

Apple Store (US) Sales and Refund Policy - http://www.apple.com/shop/help/returns_refund - "You have 14 calendar days to return an item from the date you received it."
You could also see if you could resolve the issues either on this forum of by calling the complimentary support you get when buying equipment.
