Reset iPhone 11

I have been trying to restore my Father in laws iPhone 11 because he forgot his 6 digit code to use his facial id. Doing a restore to factory settings and have been waiting for 5 hours. Is this normal to take this long. I am connect to iTunes using a PC.

I was trying to do it using this method, so I remembered that I had never connected my cell phone to the desktop, nor even accepted the computer on it. What are the options for recovering a forgotten iPhone 13 Pro passcode? i am using iphone 13pro, my little son change the passcode and forget. My face Id needs passcode 1st. i have tried a lot but i cannot find the passcode. i clearly remember my Apple ID and Password. But now after attempts i have " iPhone Unavailable Message ". i have almost 240GB data in it. No Backup on any system due to privacy. what i do know? my career my banks, my memories are in it. Why it is so difficult for a owner to get back his all data? why iPhone don't use other method to verify a person. now i am holding my iphone and searching on net for solution. its common if a person forget his passcode, but why there is no other option to reuse or save his data before erase? It normally doesn't take that long. Are you doing the steps in the article below?

Passcode - If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone or your device is disabled.
