Phone icon on iPhone8 mistakenly deleted

My wife somehow deleted or erased her phone icon from her iPhone8. She can't call as she has no icon. How do we get it back?

That is a builtin app you should not have been able to delete. She may have moved it got another screen or folder somewhere. Search for "Phone" on your iPhone:

Use Search on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

and then you can drag it back to the home screen (or wherever).

OK, I found the phone icon in search. Many thanks.

But how do I get it back to the front screen? I can access everything (recent calls, contacts, phone number pad and voice messages) but it's a bit tedious (especially for my wife) to go to search and type in "ph . ." for the phone icon to appear.
