trouble-shoot signing in to Messages and FaceTime after upgrade to IOS14.2 on ipad

How can I connect w servers for Messages and FaceTime? After entering password and trying to connect I get timed out. This problem started after upgrading to 14.2.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

Yes for both. Activation error: unable to contact server.
