Unable to install OS X Lion

Backup your data prior to any installation.
If the MacBook Pro is a Core2Duo, i3, i5, or i7 processor and was released new between January 7, 2006 and March 15, 2010, get the
10.6.3 retail installer disc to install 10.6.3 on it, then run the 10.6.8 combo update, and then use the Mac App Store to install Lion.
If the MacBook Pro is older than October 2011, you will need the original installer disc to install 10.6 first, and then install 10.6.8 combo update and use the Mac App Store to install 10.7.
If the MacBook Pro was released between October 2011 before the mid-2012 model, you can command-option-shift-R startup the computer to install Lion.
The mid-2012 and later releases will not support Lion.
