Category Count problem

Simple: with "Categories" engaged, the "Count" column is always 0, which makes no sense to me at all and I don't know how to change it. Can anyone help?

I have several different tables in my spreadsheet for fundraising. Whenever I activate the category feature to see the donations listed by a particular person or organization, I also want to know at a glance how many donors I have. So I click on the gear icon and select "count." No matter what I do, the count is always 0 for every individual and organization, but there must be at least 1or the person/organization wouldn't even be in the table.

Further update: I solved the problem myself: The "Category" summary is a summary only of a particular column. The column I focused on was "notes" which at the moment was empty, so 0 was the right answer. When I did the count on the column of names it counted correctly .
