New Apple TV 4k will not open Netflix app - how can I fix this? There is a Blue circle under Netflix logo

How do I get the Netflix app to load on my new Apple TV 4k? When I click on open nothing happens. There is a blue dot under the Netflix logo. Click on that nothing happens

That may not be the solution to this specific issue. We had this same problem, we tried restarting the Apple TV, and also tried deleting and reinstalling Netflix and none of them worked the problem still continued. However we found out we had an Apple TV software update and haven’t updated in a while. Once we updated the Apple TV itself the Netflix app worked again. It’s possible this specific issue people are having us due to the fact they are on an older Apple TV update version and the newest Netflix update is breaking on that version for whatever reason.

I had this same problem and tried all these things suggested above. At first my AppleTV was saying the software was updated but then at some point after I had reset AppleTV, unplugged it, deleted Netflix, re-downloaded it, (none of those things had worked), finally there appeared a software update to AppleTV. When I downloaded and installed that software update, then Netflix finally worked! It still had the blue dot but when I signed in and then went back out of it, the blue dot was gone. Hope this helps.

I didn’t see an update available showing, but I went to the settings app in Apple device, Click on system, scroll to software updates, click it then click on update software. Manually updates your box (even if automatic update is on.) will take several stages, 10 minutes or so. Once finished, it will automatically pop back on. Netflix should work after this.

Just go to Update Software and click it to manually force all updates. I just left automatic updates ON (that is not capturing this needed update)...

Just go to Update Software and click it to manually force all updates. I just left automatic updates ON (that is not capturing this needed update)...

This thankfully worked for me -


I wondered if the actual App Store app itself was up to date so I updated the Apple TV in settings (although it was already set for automatic updates! - go figure!)


Once the TV update was completely finished the blue dot was still showing by the Netflix app but I clicked on it and it opened!! Just had to sign into Netflix again. I hope this works for you too.
