New Apple TV 4k will not open Netflix app - how can I fix this? There is a Blue circle under Netflix logo

How do I get the Netflix app to load on my new Apple TV 4k? When I click on open nothing happens. There is a blue dot under the Netflix logo. Click on that nothing happens

That may not be the solution to this specific issue. We had this same problem, we tried restarting the Apple TV, and also tried deleting and reinstalling Netflix and none of them worked the problem still continued. However we found out we had an Apple TV software update and haven’t updated in a while. Once we updated the Apple TV itself the Netflix app worked again. It’s possible this specific issue people are having us due to the fact they are on an older Apple TV update version and the newest Netflix update is breaking on that version for whatever reason.

Having this problem. Started earlier this week. I’m no tech idiot... literally part owner of an IT security & compliance company. Things I’ve tried:


  1. Delete App and reinstall.
  2. Check for AppleTV software updates.
  3. Complete AppleTV Reset and Update.


Seems like there’s an update that’s causing the issue and no one will take ownership of the problem. Someone better figure it out soon otherwise I’m switching to Firesticks and dropping Netflix.

I’m literally having the same issue. I just purchased a brand new 4K Apple TV and the Netflix app appears on my home screen with a blue dot to the left of the Netflix brand and when I click to open it it, it flashes open quickly and shuts down. I have unplugged my TV and the Apple TV. I have restarted the Apple TV. I have deleted the Netflix app and download it again. Nothing is working. Please help.

There are no updates available... I just purchased this device. Have not even had the 4K a full 36 hrs and none of these suggestions are working. The device has been rebooted several times, there automatic updates have been turned off and turned back on, the Netflix app has been uninstalled and re-installed and the app still will not open...
