iPhone 7 and Apple Watch Incoming calls

I just upgraded my iPhone 7 to Software 14.3. Previously when my received a phone call my phone would vibrate and my Apple Watch would also. Nothing actually rang if the two devices were close to each other. Since I downloaded the new software both my phone and watch actually ring, even if they are right next to each other. I have not changed anything in my settings on either device.

How do I get my phone to only vibrate and my watch to only vibrate when the two devices are close together? I want the phone to ring if the watch is not closes to it.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that your iPhone and Apple Watch now both ring when you receive a phone call.

Does this happen with other alerts as well or only calls? We recommend first making sure that Wrist Detection is enabled. On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to My Watch > General > Wrist Detection. Without this on, all notifications alerts will be delivered to both your Apple Watch and iPhone.

Next, make sure that your settings are still correct. Check out Notifications on your Apple Watch.
