Why does it take so long to ship?

I ordered a Mac Airbook a couple of weeks ago. I received the accessories right away for which I have no use for but it wasn't until today, two weeks later, that the order inquiry says getting ready for shipment. So, I have two cords I have no use for and no machine. Why does it take so long to ship?

I received mine today and it is nice and smaller than my 2015 model. One problem is that it has just one USB-c ports so I will have to get a hub. Luckily I ordered the adapters for both USB and Lightning connectors.

I tried the voice over that was supposed to make it easier to migrate and found it really annoying, so, I turned it off. It was easier to just click the continue button. The other thing I would advise is to find the migration utility on your old machine first.

Mine came the day before the last day of the range I was given. I had the same change in wording, it still took a few days to receive the MacBook Air. So far I really like it. The email program really changed though. Will have to get comfortable with that.

I ordered on January 15th. I miswrote above it is in "processing". I ordered the accessories at the same time I ordered the MacBook air. The accessories were not part of the MacBook Air. One is a USB-c to Lightning cable so I can charge my phone when I use the MacBook and the other is a USB-c to USB cable so I can hook up my DVD player.

At the time, Apple told me that it would ship between 2/19 and 2/26. At this point I am guessing it won't ship until at least 2/26.

Years ago I talked to a consultant who had been a production manager when Apple made them in the US. He said that Jobs's philosophy was that production didn't worry about forecasts but drove production to match capacity. He felt the excuse manufacturing always had was that marketing didn't give them a good forecast. So, he got rid of the marketing forecast and had manufacturing to a production level. With that in mind it would seem if the base model is the best seller and manufacturing wants to minimize inventory it drive the production of the base model to the highest level.

I keep my Macs way longer than Apple would like. My current MacBook Air is a 2015 model. It was a base model from then. It has a 128gb hard drive. Because of the age, it is near capacity and I can't load the newest OS. So, this time I I ordered the next level model with the larger SSD. The problem is that the hard drive memory that you need for the OS and apps seems to grow exponentially. I am at the opposite end of life from you. I am retired. And you would probably laugh at this but I can remember arguing with Information Systems, IS, people (I was the treasurer of the company and IS reported to me) that we should just go ahead and get the PC's with 40 meg hard drives rather than the 20 meg because software was advancing so fast. I generally keep my Mac's six to seven years so I have to allow for growth. I do the same with my iPads.

My guess is... either Friday or next Monday. My window is Jan 25 to feb 1st. For 20 days it says processing. But today, even though it say processing... the wording under date has changed to..... s soon as the item is ready, we’ll send you an update. Before it use to say, they have everything to process the order... so seeing the wording change is a great thing.

you mean time machine. I already had it backed up to my external hard drive... then I cleaned it and restored it... and after, I gave it to my younger brother. At this very moment, I don’t have a computer. That’s why I am eager to receive mine.

and voice thing is siri. At least my 2016 MacBook, which was the first MacBooks to get much smaller and redesigned. So all that isn’t new for me.

yes!

im 2 for 2 with my delivery predictions. Remember I told you Friday or Monday.
