I cant make an in app purchase

I bought an Apple gift card and I want to do use it for an in app purchase but when I went to buy the thing it told me that I need to choose a payment method and it took me to a screen in the App Store that told me to choose either my credit card or my account balance but it wouldn’t let me select account balance

Purchasing Apps with account balance I'm trying to purchase an app using my account balance from a previous gift card however it will only let me enter a credit card. when I select account balance it takes me to redeem a gift card or attach a credit card to the account rather than use the current balance. (I have $25 in my account and app is only $8 so it is not an insufficient funds problem). thanks!

I can’t use my Apple account balance for an in-app purchase I can’t access my Apple account for an in-app purchase. It is asking to add a credit card which I don’t want to do.

Purchase apps with balance not credit card. Unable to purchase apps on iPad even though I have more than enough money on my Apple ID balance. Keeps requesting to add purchasing account like credit card. I purchased an Apple and iTunes cards and added to balance so why won’t it accept this payment for purchasing apps?
