Why can't I see all the emojis? Sometimes they just appear as a square with a question mark inside.
I have both friends with IPhone and Android devices and all of them can see those emojis.
I just uploaded to IPhone 12 and it’s quite upsetting.

Does this only happen in the Messages app or within other apps? First, follow the steps in this article for How to force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and quit the Messages app. Once it’s closed, Restart your iPhone.
