Why are my Mac Photos Albums not showing in iCloud/iPhone?

Same question had been asked before, without any sensible answer.

What is the difference between an Album in photos on Mac and in iCloud/iPhone?

After many days of work I have all my iPhoto library organised in Photos albums, but those don't appear in iCloud.

Is that a bug?

Is this configurable anywhere? I don't see any proper iCloud settings anywhere?

Or is there a better service than iCloud? Something like PhotoSync?

You should be seeing your albums in the the Photos.app on your iPhone and at www.icloud.com, if iCloud Photos is enabled on all your devices, where you want to see your photos and keep them in sync with iCloud. Where you have to enable iCloud Photos will depend on your system version. which system versions do you have installed?

  • On your Mac (with macOS 11 Big Sur) enable iCloud Photos in the Photos.app (Photos > Preferences > iCloud Photos > and in the System Preferences > AppleID > iCloud > Photos.
  • On your iPhone (with iOS 14) enable iCloud Photos in Settings > Your Name > iCloud Photos.

Then wait and keep all devices connected to a power source and Wi-Fi. Photos will need to upload first the photos into iCloud, then sync the albums.

What is the status you are seeing in Photos on your Mac? Is it still uploading? Check the status of your library in Photos for macOS - Apple Support

You may not be seeing any albums in iCloud and your other devices, until the upload has finished.

Did you make a backup copy of your Photos Library on an external drive, before you started the iCloud syncing? If not, make one now, while you are seeing all your albums and photos on your Mac, just incase. You may need a backup, if there really should be something wrong with your upload to iCloud and need to start over.
