iTunes doesn't recognize iPhone 12 Pro

Hello everyone,

I finally received my new iPhone 12 Pro today after months of waiting.

Well, the joy was of short duration, as my PC doesn't recognize my new iPhone in iTunes (so I can't restore my old phone's backup - the wireless iPhone to iPhone data transfer is no option for me as my old phone is severely damaged). It had always worked with my previous device though (iPhone 8).

My PC itself does indeed recognize the 12 Pro as a memory device, but it just won't show up in iTunes.

Yes, I have the newest version of both Windows 10 Home and iTunes installed (I also re-installed iTunes and searched for Apple Device Driver updates), tried different cables and everything.

It's clearly some kind of connectivity issue between my computer and the new 12 Pro.

Has anyone experienced the same problem or does even know a solution?

Thank you so much already!

P.S. I stumbled across one post in this forum where someone had the same problem, and the solution for them was to just use another computer with an Intel CPU instead of AMD Ryzen (which I also have) - I seriously hope that this is not an actual connectivity issue between Ryzen and the new iPhones.

Hi altarya,

We see you're having some issues getting your new iPhone to show up in iTunes. We can certainly understand the need to get that resolved, and we'd like to help out.

For this particular issue, we'd suggest follow the steps on this page: If your computer doesn't recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod

Be sure to work through the top steps here first, and then scroll down to the "If you use a Windows PC" section. Note that there'll be two separate sections here, depending on whether you downloaded iTunes from the Apple site or the Microsoft Store.

Take care!
