New M1 Mini & Dell P2419HC display USB-C not working.
Greetings, brand new M1 Mini & Dell display. HDMI connection working well but monitor does not see Mini using Dell supplied USB-C cable or an Apple USB-C cable? What am I missing? Thanks.

Many thanks for your reply hcstas. I did eventually get everything working... but not 100 per cent how I did, or what I was doing wrong initially. The HDMI connection worked well so was able to set up Mini. Thought I would try connecting with my MacBook and the Dell cable worked ( the Apple cable did not... ). So tried the Dell cable on the Mini once again and low-n-behold display worked on the USB-C port. Reading round the Internet tells me that there are differing kinds of USB-C cables and the one I need is a cable able to carry all the info ( not just power / limited data ) needed for the video to work into the monitor.
If I figure out anything more on this as I set up my Mini + Dell monitor will post here.
Thanks again.

Maybe the Apple cable was Thunderbolt 3 (Lightning bolt icon on the plugs). A Thunderbolt 3 cable will plug into USB-C but will not work with a non-Thunderbolt device, such as your display.
A USB-C to USB-A cable won't wrk because USB-A doesn't support the video signals.
Check and update firmware (see manual, Windows PC required). If that won’t fix, return monitor (officially Dell offers no support for Macs) and replace with another brand Good luck.
You’re welcome. Yes, try another cable, I suggest USB C (Dell) to the regular USB A port on the mini.
Err, it will when using HDMI for video.
Sorry, my reply was incomplete. Using two cables, one for HDMI and one for USB is IMO better than one for all. If the monitor is confusing the Mac over USB-C, connect it to the USB-A port.
