Does the App switcher work using an IPhone 8?

I saw an old question about using the newish app switcher on IPhone. The first Apple article I saw stated that only with IPhone X and above using IOS13 does the real way Apple’s intended use of the App Switcher to work on an IPhone. Only with an IPhone X and above was the “App Switcher” able to truly be used as intended.

There was a level 9 support person who refused to listen to previous persons exact question and said they don’t read blogs etc. If that’s the case that person wasn’t qualified to answer the question the way the previous person and myself were asking. If you don’t read where we got an answer that doesn’t work and refuse to read anything to improve your knowledge, how did this person become a level 9 support?

I understand the double click of the home button to see open apps etc. But does double clicking the home button do the exact same thing that Apple is describing that can be done with the App switcher for IPhone X and above?

iPhone 8, iOS 14

Level 9 for a user represents an accumulation of points over time, awarded by answering support questions correctly or in a helpful manner.

It does not mean that the person has any sort of obligation to act a certain way, read blogs or have knowledge of everything Apple.

As for your question, I can only really speak to functionality in iOS/iPadOS 13 & 14. I don't have any devices running older software than that and it's been a year and a half since I've run anything older.

As far as I know, App Switcher using a device with 13 or 14 functions the same way. On iPhone 8 and older you just summon it by double clicking the Home Button rather than swiping up from the bottom of the screen.

It sounds like you can successfully display your open apps by double clicking your home button.. Can you swipe up and kill an app? Can you tap on one of the open apps and switch to it? If so, sounds like the same functionality to me.
