Light fragments in iPhone mini pics

Hi. Love the new iPhone mini camera for night pics. However I’m getting odd and unintended effects in the pic set up and pic itself.

One attempt left me with a sort of vacillating wave effect that showed up pre and post pic.

more recently it’s all about alternate sources of light creating clear residual light fragments or dots in the pic. Thii is a can be during the day with the sun in The pic. Or night with a man made light source.

never had these issues with past iPhones. Ideas?

iPhone 12 mini, iOS 14

That's called lens flare and is completely normal for premium smartphone cameras.

Similar artifacts occur on virtually all others.
