Changing Apple TV Video Format

I recently moved to a mountain home so my internet speed is not good. In order to try to correct buffering issues I've been having with streaming content I tried to reduce the video format on the Apple TV 4K as an experiment. I dropped it down a number of times from the 1080p and ended up at 640 x 489 SDR. Nothing changed with the buffering so I'm now trying to return to the previous setting. Regardless of the format I try I get a message "There was a problem changing the resolution to ....". I've also tried the Reset Video Settings function and it didn't do anything. I've also tried unplugging the unit to no avail. The TV is a Samsung UHD which is HD and 4K compliant. What can I try to get my original settings back?

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities. We understand you're having issues with adjusting your Apple TV resolution, and we'd be happy to help.

To get started, let's try the steps listed in the following resource under, "If you see the Apple logo and then a black screen": If your Apple TV doesn't turn on

While we understand you're not having issues with your Apple TV turning on, these steps will cause your Apple TV to switch to a new resolution every 20 seconds. Once you see the resolution you'd like, just select OK to set the resolution.
