MacBookPro: Big Sur 11.1: opening the top after closing overnight, the screen remains dark. I need to depress the on/off button and later depress that button again to start the iOS. Is there a systems preference setting to correct this?

Hello barrett915,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities! We understand that you need help with your MacBook Pro dimming. We are happy to help out. Your MacBook Pro will automatically dim when left alone after a period of time. You can disable this by following these steps:

  • Open “System Preferences” from the Apple menu
  • Click on “Energy Saver”, then go under “Battery” tab first
  • Unselect the check box next to “Slightly dim the display when using this power source”
  • Unselect the checkbox next to “Automatically reduce brightness before display goes to sleep”
  • Repeat the same settings adjustments under the “Power Adapter” tab if desired
  • Close System Preferences

We also recommend checking out this link: Set sleep and wake settings for your Mac

Cheers!
