Transfer anxiety from iPhone 7 to new iPhone

Help please. I’m terrified of messing up/losing data during phone transfer.

Years ago, ‘migration assistant’ failed during transfer to my new $$ MB Pro. Despite compatible, compliant specs etc. Then FireWire failed during the tedious manual transfer.

I lost So much :/

Pertinent:

My 7 (T-Mobile, 14.2, ample storage) stopped connecting last week. Persistent Cellular update error. No in/out calls. Text, internet ok w wifi. Eventually learned a failed 14.3 update + known 7 antenna defect were likely causes.

Bought a 2020 SE. Will remove new SIM (bought 2 days ago while troubleshooting error) + insert in SE (yes?).

iCloud displays only 1 recent backup, despite automatic back ups most nights. I’m confused.

Watched a side by side YouTube transfer. Still anxious about losing stuff.

Suggestions, thoughts, sage burning ritual? thanks much!

you can transfer the information, using Quick Start

Use Quick Start to transfer data to a new iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

and thoroughly check all data on new phone afterwards. It stays on the old one whatever method you use

Also, as far as iCloud backups go, the new one overwrites the old one, that is why you only see one. Check the date on the backup. If you still have the old iPhone, go to iCloud backups and you can create one right now before you transfer data as well. Just tap on Back Up Now.
