Can't set up Touch ID with new Big Sur OS

After loading the new Big Sur OS on my MacBook, it would not ask me for my Touch ID to login. So I went to system preferences and deleted my old fingerprint settings. Then when I went to add new ones, nothing happens when I click the plus to add new fingerprints.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 11.1

I tried this multiple times, but it's still not working. Once it even popped up the window for my password and the form would not allow me to click into it.

If rebooting did not solve it than you have one last user intervention:

Even though SMC controls the touchbar/TouchID, some USB is in play, so this would be NVRAM  notice:

USB Device: Apple T2 Bus

USB Device: Touch Bar Display

USB Device: Apple T2 Controller

Try resetting NVRAM/PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379

If this is a Intel Mac—(does not apply to the SoC M1 Macs)

If no resolve it typically indicates a hardware issue.

I called Apple and they had me reset in Safe mode. I had to shut down my computer with the box unchecked for opening my current windows both before and after I entered Safe mode. And then when I started back up to restart in Safe mode, I clicked and held Shift while it restarted. (Info in case others need it.)
