Imac G4(Flat Panel) Internal Ram needed

I am in need of new ram for my Imac G4. I brought a 512MB memory stick(pc133 So-Dimm 64m). I'm hoping that i didn't purchase the wrong stick. However when I opened up my Imac I saw the user accessible memory stick. That's all set, however the Internal one, I'm not sure if I have the right memory stick for that one or not. I'm trying to add the new one that I have so that I could have 1Gig of ram.

I'm a little lost lol!

I will not place the internal stick myself. I will have someone with the experience and the tools to do so. I just want to make sure that I have the right memory stick for the internal ram slot BEFORE I find someone to install it.

Please help.

By identifying your iMac G4, you can more accurately get the correct
upgrade or replacement RAM part numbers. System Profiler can help.

Since the factory-installed RAM is of a different configuration or size
and shape, than the user-accessible RAM, you have to also be aware
of what model & build version of iMac G4, so to get the correct speed.

What is the processor's size? Is the computer an iMac G4 700/800 MHz
or is it a 1.0GHz, or 1.25GHz? These models cover a range of different
kinds of RAM, and this changed over the course of production years.

The early ones use PC133, later PC2100, and last PC2700.

The inner-most slot on early models, uses a 144-pin RAM chip, some use
a 184-pin chip; and the user accessible slot uses a version of laptop RAM
called a SO-DIMM.

So, if you can identify your iMac model and version, that helps to locate
the correct replacement or upgrade RAM. You can find the specs for the
RAM itself easily enough online if you know what iMac G4 you have.

• iMac: Memory Specifications and Upgrades:

The early iMac G4s support up to 1024MB RAM between two slots, 512MB ea.
The last model iMac G4s with USB 2.0 ports and AirPort Extreme support, can
use up to 2048MB or 2GB of RAM (PC2700/DDR333) between their two slots.

Hopefully the information does more than serve to confuse!
I have and use MacTracker to help me check out specs on
products I have or think about getting; since it has much info.

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂
