Do you have a 12" Retina MacBook? If you have a 2006 to 2010 13" MacBook you've posted to the wrong forum area.
This will totally depend on how old the MacBook is. Somewhere in 2016 - 2017 all MacBook had the SSD Soldered to the LogicBoard - no replacing at all.
All 12" Retina MacBooks (2015-2017) have SSDs soldered to their logic boards.
