MacBook AIR M1 temperature is very high almost 100C

Hi there,

How I can find out what causes M1 AIR temperature to go nearly 100C?

After the restart, it goes back to normal 30C to 40C

M1 Macbook overheating after Monterey update Hey all, I have a 2020 M1 macbook air which has been running like a dream for the last 14 months or so. Just this week I upgraded my software to the latest release (macOS Monterey 12.2.1) and immediately since then my air has been overheating. Does anyone know why this is happening? I have not changed my usage at all so the load is the same as it was before. The only thing which has changed is the software. I use my machine for code editing and I often have a localhost server running somewhere, video meetings, video streaming and browsing the web (with chrome). During video meeting it gets the hottest but right now I am just using chrome and vscode and my palms are still sweaty typing this... should I downgrade my software to an earlier release? :( p.s. for any web developers out there, there is one other odd thing I noticed: localhost:5000 is not longer available for me. It seems something is now using that port and that was not the case previously.

Mac Temperature Since updating to 10.15.5, my Macbook Air will randomly go up to 100 degrees when idle. To make it worse, in some cases the fan does not come on meaning I have had to install a third party app to ramp the fans up and bring the temperature down. The temperature will show the same on Intel Power Gadget and Macs Fan Control so I know it is not an issue with one of those programs giving a false reading. Any suggestions?

Overheating Macbook air m1 8gb ram 256ssd When I'm working in a virtual machine My laptop heats up between 60 and 75 degrees. Is this normal? And is it possible to have this temperature for a long time?

Update from me.

I did install the newest update from Apple on my MBA M1 and then did a restart.

It works fine so far with the temperature from 30C to 40C.

I will monitor 'activity monitor' and 'temperature' to see how it works and later come back with an update.

Nothing suspicious was found in the activity monitor.
