Change Old Apple Id to @me.com

Here is how it all happened.......before I ever had an iPhone, before there was iCloud or me.com I had an apple ID that was my email address. That email address is going to be going away in about 1 month. All these years, I have had 2 apple ids, one that is this OLD email address where I would purchase music, apps and such and one that is @me.com that connects all my devices, iPhone, iPads, Mac computers.

It would just be AWESOME if I could only have 1 apple id. Because that OLD email address is about to go away in 1 month, it would be awesome if I could only have 1 account...the @me.com account.

It would be great if that was my id that I would use to login for purchases of music and apps......and to connect all my devices.....JUST ONE ID!!!!

HOW DO I DO THAT???? HOW DO I MAKE that change?

If I click "Change My Apple ID" after logging into my account with the OLD email and I put in the @me.com address I get this message: " You can only add the @me.com address that is already on file in your account."

IF I go and try to ADD the me.com email address to this account I get this message: " This email address is not available. Choose a different address."

I'm sure there is a way to do this....please let me know what I need to do.

THANK YOU!

Kirk

You cannot transfer purchases. So that is not an option. But you can just get another free email address and change the login address for that old ID and just keep using it.

Just change it to a free Google, or MS, or Yahoo, or whatever free email you want to use.

Oh, and btw, even if you did not change it to an active email address, it would still remain a perfectly functional AppleID. Once created and verified, an AppleID’s use as an AppleID is not dependent on the email remaining an active email. But, if inactive, you won’t get any mails from Apple (e.g. purchase receipts), and if you ever need to recover the account, it may be problematic without a working email address.

Yes, I a, sure they cannot transfer purchases. Consumer law and third party licensing does not allow them to do so.

And if your still getting Apple mail at the old email address, then it is still listed as your primary email. Did you follow the instructions in that “change your AppleID” support document exactly? If you did, then that old email should no longer be associated with any AppleID at all.

OK...well....I did that and it's still sending emails to my old apple id email which like I said is going away in a month. How do I get it to stop doing that and start sending it to the "gmail" account???

ARE YOU SURE they cannot transer purchases??? IT SEEMS so easy....I have 2 verified accounts and I would only like 1 account. why can't that happen???
