Camera not working on Chrome Google Meet

OK, there are 2 SOLUTIONS for now:

1. Go to chrome://settings/system and play with the Accelerator: turn it off or on, refresh/restart the browser, do it again if it did not work at the first attempt (return it back to its original state). If after refresh nothing helped - go to step 2.
2. Downgrade the Chrome to the previous version. Simply delete the current one and download the older version here https://www.slimjet.com/chrome/google-chrome-old-version.php

The second step helped me. Some say you need to disable auto-update in Chrome, follow this link (I could not because I do not have an editor on Mac, but so far mine does not update automatically and I can still use my camera on Messenger and Teams calls): https://www.webnots.com/7-ways-to-disable-automatic-chrome-update-in-windows-and-mac/

When I upgraded to Big Sur, the camera stopped working and also the ability to Present (within Google Meet) my screen to other participants too. Only Google Chrome was affected.

In System Preferences > Security & Privacy; open the lock with admin privileges and make sure that under the Privacy-tab Google Chrome is enabled (the check set) for Camera, Microphone and Screen Recording.

Then relaunch Google Chrome.

I have this exact same issue. This advice worked for me, thank you so much!

For some reason, when I toggled the "Use hardware acceleration when available" to ON, it only then worked. When i turned it off, then it does not work. I am wondering if it is a software glitch from Chrome, or an issue with an outdated operating system I have (High Sierra). Either way, much appreciated this advice, I was going crazy trying to find solutions.

Here’s what I did I deleted Google Chrome with app delete I downloaded in older version of Google Chrome I turned off the Internet I installed Google Chrome older version I then told Google Chrome to not update then I reconnected to the Internet and sure enough camera worked again for everybody

I toggle the hardware activation switch on and off and hit relaunch and it worked! Thank you so much

same thing... was fixed right away (after restart) when I turned on hardware acceleration in Chrome.

first off, I hope u don't use chrome for your main browser (its the worst on Mac)

second, try updating chrome or use safari. safari had issues in Catalina but in Big Sur they got fixed.

I restarted and it did not help. I found a work around. Chrome definitely does not work with Google Meets but, I downloaded Firefox and it works again. Safari does not work with google meets either.

I’m on both firefox meet and chrome meet to same meeting the one on firefox shows both parties chrome does not.

chromebook shows both parties but not the one from mac chrome. Seems to me this has got to be a chrome problem.

Mine was off too. I relaunched it, refreshed and then went back in and turned it off.

At least, I think that's what fixed it.

It's working now.

It asked for permission for the camera, which it hadn't before so maybe it reset?

don’t download appdelete from app store that version limits what you can delete.

Same here, started today 01-27, i try privacy settings, restart etc. definelly a chrome update problem

Mine was already off. I cannot think of anything else to try. I even uninstalled and reinstalled chrome. Cleared cache and history, made sure camera is enabled. I don't know how I am going to teach! Help
