I am unable to change my password. I am the admin for this MAC. When I try to change it, I get a dialog box that says
The password for “me” was not changed.
Your system administrator may not allow you to change your password or there was some other problem with your password. Contact your system administrator for help.

So please check out the options in Change or reset the password of a macOS user account
Like reset your password with your Apple ID if you have that linked.

Thanks so much. I had not linked my AppleID to the password. Once I did that, the rest was easy.
