Active Corner "show desktop"

Dear community,

why is the active corner "Show desktop" not possible when the current program is in full-screen-mode? I have noticed this also for all the last versions of OS.

For me it makes no sense that this function is only possible if the current program is not in full screen mode.

I kindly await your answers and opinions.

Kind regards

MacBook Pro Retina

Because there is no desktop in a Space that is used by a fullscreen application.

In a "regular" space, you have your desktop and possibly many windows from several applications, and you move everything aside to uncover the desktop.

Now, say you click the green dot or otherwise put one of these windows in fullscreen. A completely new and reserved Space is created for it. This Space does not have anything else, including a desktop.

As another indication of how fullscreen applications are treated differently, try having three Safari windows (not just tabs, but separate windows). You can switch between them with standard command-` shortcut. Now put one of them in fullscreen. See? You can command-` between windows that are not in fullscreen, but not with a fullscreen one.
