How to Disable Airplay from IPAD mini 2 (IOS 12.5.1)?

Hello,

Is there a way to completely remove the airplay function from an IPAD?

My 2 y/o uses an iPad that is connected to our home network and has accidentally turned on airplay while watching a video. He obviously doesn't know what he's doing, but the button pops up every-time he touches the screen. A lot of people are working from home, and hearing "Dinosaur Parade" blasting through the speakers in the middle of a presentation or an interview every other week has gotten old.

Is there a way to take away this function from a specific device that is still connected to our home network?

Thank you,

iPad mini 2 Wi-Fi

Unfortunately, there is no specific setting within iPad settings that controls access to AirPlay. Connection security is principally controlled by the device to which the iPad is connecting via AirPlay.

If you’re using an AppleTV - to which your toddler is connecting via AirPlay - by far the simplest solution is to refine the security settings of your AppleTV box:

Manage AirPlay settings on your Apple TV - Apple Support

AirPlay security in Apple devices - Apple Support

If instead your TV has native AirPlay/AirPlay2 support, you’ll need to look for equivalent security settings within the TV controls.

An alternative strategy might be to consider having two WiFi networks for your household - one for devices that can access AppleTV and AirPlay devices, including your TV - and another for general use that includes internet access. Your WiFi Router may already have a “guest network” mode that can be used to provide the necessary isolation without additional outlay on hardware.
