Received email cannot be read due to “formatting”

Occasionally, emails received on my new iPhone 12 pro open with the message: “This message cannot be displayed because of the way it is formatted. Ask the sender to send it again using a different format or email program.

text/plain”

I’m getting the same message and have been for some time. For a while I could overcome this problem by moving the message to trash and then moving it back to inbox where it appeared ok. Just upgraded to IOS14.4 and this trick no longer fixes the problem. Hey Apple are you listening? There’s lots of us having this highly annoying problem. I have a new iPhone SE.
