How to reset a disabled iPad 7th generation with permanently broken home button.

My iPad 7th generation has a permanently broken (jack on motherboard broken) home button, and somehow went into Disabled mode with only two PIN errors. Three Apple reps told me that if I took it to the Apple store, a genius would be able to reset it. The genius says it's impossible. Is it really impossible to reset an iPad without the home button? It doesn't seem fair to disable it after only two PIN errors.

PS—for some reason, Apple hasn't added iPad 7th generation to the device list, so I had to choose iPad 6. But this is an iPad 7th generation.
