I want the control what apps my child is able to download, how do I do that?

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We understand you’d like to set up parental controls so you can control which apps your child can download. We’ll be happy to help.

There are a couple of ways to do this. You can set up Family Sharing and Screen Time, which will allow you to control Screen Time on their devices from your Apple device. The bottom section of this page explains how that works: Use Screen Time on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

You can also skip Family Sharing, and set up Screen Time directly on your child’s device. This resource explains in more detail and shows you how to set it up directly from their device, using a unique passcode that you set up, just for Screen Time. That feature ensures no one is able to change the settings once you’ve put them in place.
