Update icon appears on desktop

Hi, opened my MacBook Air (2020) this morning to find a message stating it had to be shutdown/restarted due to an error. Asked for a report assuming I could forward to Apple. Report generated but I can't understand it and no button to send to Apple, Closed it.

Then found a disc icon named "Update" on my desktop. Did a "Command I" to get info: provides my HD info, but nothing else.

Decided to trash it, and it simply disappeared - eject? Then decided to do a "Restart" the process looked like a shutdown/install.

Has now restarted and the "Update" install icon has reappeared.

What should I do with it? is it bogus or Apple?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.15

For Clarity image on left is my HD and the one on the right is the bogus(?) one

Look in your Disk Utility>View>Show all devices

You should see something similar: Macintosh HD & Macintosh HD - Data

( Note: this BigSur it has the additional SSV (sealed system volume) don't be confused by this—your

our Catalina does not have the SSV.)

*All Volumes share space under the Container.

Macintosh HD mount point is: " / "

[ Macintosh HD - Data mount point is: " System/Volumes/Data " ]

Look at your mystery "Update Volume"— and compare.

You can delete the "Update" Volume it here in Disk Utility using the +/-

Firstly, Norton 360 was not on my computer when the mysterious software "Update" appeared, so I don't see how it solves my issue?

Secondly, what Developers instructions are you referring to? Neither Norton nor Apple seem to have made any comments. Any various review sites list Norton in the top 1, 2, 3.

Some clarity please?
