Update icon appears on desktop

Look at your mystery "Update Volume"— and compare.

You can delete the "Update" Volume it here in Disk Utility using the +/-

Get Rid of Norton asap as per Developers Instructions - this software is very very bad and will cause a lot of headaches or corrupt the OS.
