Update from Yosemite to High Sierra

Question

Im on the apple website downloaded the High Sierra download but when I try to open it I get a can't open file error.

Im currently running Yosemite

Can anyone help I was told I should update this

Do you have any antivirus software installed on your Mac?

Check your Applications folder and make sure there are no macOS installer apps there.

What is the year and model identifier of your Mac? Find identifier in About this Mac / System report (or system information) / Hardware overview.

You might also try reinstalling your original software from Recovery mode and upgrading from there.

yes I did I clicked in the download and it downloaded. app store box opens up and I try to sign in with my ID and password.

Then I get Unknown error every time I try this

Then another box

We could not complete yoi r request

error in the app store please try later
