Adding an artist to music tastes profile

I cannot add an artist to my profile! I try to sign into my account on my android app, and then it asks me to pick the genres I like, and I do. Then it goes to the next page and asks me to pick 3 the artists I "love". I don't like most mainstream music, so the only artist I "love" that actually shows up is The Everly Brothers. I try to add artist that don't pop up on the list (ie: Fiona Apple, Johnny Cash, Cathy Davey, Aurora etc) but I start typing and it says Oops! You can't do that. I have a screenshot below.

I really need to edit my artist because Apple Music has been TERRIBLE at suggesting artists for me. Fake 'new' country (sugarland, etc), CRAP hip-hop and RB/rap (I'm talking Cardi B, FloRida, 24 Goldn, etc). I need better music, or this service just isn't worth the trouble. THNX!
