Apple 4K TV to Samsung Q60T - HDR Color Artifact Issues

Hello all!

I've found that when streaming certain shows in HDR that weird color artifacts appear. This happens mostly in B&W content and when density shifts occur. When I switch to the TV's native OS to stream the same shows, I don't have any issues. I'm streaming in 4K HDR 4:2:2 and using a high-speed HDMI cable and I'm running OS 14.4.

I imagine this is an odd encoding issue on Apple's part, but I wanted to see your thoughts!

we forgot about another side of a cable TV set. is samsung FW updated to latest version?

this is from their release notes:

Improved usability 1. Improved picture quality 2. Improved browser performance 3. Improved app performance 4. Improved stability 5. Improved usability of input devices

i solved something similar by replacing HDMI cable with new and qualitative one, mb it's your case too.

another thing that impacts quality is connection speed and stability

cannot answer on encoding, i never heard about issues with it, but who knows...

is it new device? if so and direct connection does not help, you probably can take it to apple service for diag or replacement.

what app you have problem with, btw? mb it's an app-related, not a hardware

I got this device last year and haven't had any issues. And it's only with B&W HDR content, which makes me wonder if it's software or app-related. I've seen it happen in both Netflix and Disney+ with black and white HDR. I even tried 4K SDR 4:4:4 with match dynamic range and I still had the issue.

So I tried a couple of HDMI cables and had the same issue. My next idea is to connect the apple TV directly to my router and see if that helps. My current internet speed is 100mbps. Is it possible that it's an encoding issue on Apple's end?

I recently updated it and the same issues persisted. I spoke with Apple last night and they suggested I upgrade my HDMI cable to the Belkin, which I did. Same issue, even after that...
